Connie is an Australian contemporary artist whose work explores the emotional and sensory power of paint, developed over thirty-eight years since migrating from Hong Kong to Melbourne. She has exhibited since 2020. She has earned a Master of Contemporary Art degree from the Victoria College of Art, University of Melbourne, received the Endeavour Australia Award and been finalists in exhibitions.
Connie’s practice emerges abstract, with expressive gestures, spontaneous body movement and colour that reflect sensory and emotional signals. They function as arenas where energy is released, and emotion materialised.
Drawing on action painting and inspired by artists Tony Smibert AM, Judith White, Lindy Lee and Jackson Pollock, Connie aims to engage her viewers’ senses with unpredictable moods and feelings that create a limitless sense of the sublime, vibrancy and resonate to self-reflection. She sees artmaking as a never-ending curious journey with its process guiding her to experiment with new ideas and concepts, from both eastern and western art history.
